Avisena Group has opened its women’s and children’s specialist hospital with a total of 133 beds and 52 specialist doctors making it the largest private women and children specialist hospital in Malaysia.
The hospital was launched by Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Al-Haj Ibni Almarhum Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Al-Haj and was graced by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin. Also present at the launch was YAB Tuan Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar of Selangor.

Avisena Group President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Dr Omar Abd Hamid said the hospital has seen an overwhelming response from the public since it started operating in May 2019. The personalised boutique concept hospital comprises 4 operating theatres, full fledge child-friendly Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and High Dependency (HDU). The opening of this new hospital will help to address the shortage of hospital beds for women and children in Selangor.
“Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital has not only been outfitted with the latest medical equipment and technology, it offers specialities in Obstetrics & Gynaecology including subspecialties such as Gynaeoncology, Child & Adolescent Gynaecology, Fetomaternal Medicine and Urogynaecology; a One-stop fertility centre; General Paediatric with subspecialties in cardiology, gastroenterology, ENT, Dermatology. Whilst in Paediatric it offers specialities in Neonatology; Paediatric Surgery with specialties in laparoscopic procedures, orthopaedic and burn management as well as a comprehensive Paediatric Dental services”, he said during the opening of the hospital. It will also offer Plastic and Aesthetic services in the nearest future.

Designed with women and children in mind, the hospital has created a special room for it’s paediatric patient’s mothers called the Anjung Bonda. It is an exclusive room for mothers to rest and recuperate. Unlike labour rooms in other hospital, at Avisena the labour rooms are also designed to create a calm, soothing, homey ambiance for its soon to be mothers. To educate and alleviate anxiety for children who have to undergo radiology procedure, a dummy CT-Scan machine called kitten scanner is set up. It even has a rooftop playground and playrooms with play therapist at each paediatric ward. On the 11th floor, Sutera Lounge, a waiting area is accessible for its premium patients and visitors. Avisena has a total of 16 suites and executive rooms that comes with a butler service.
Datuk Dr Omar said that Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital is currently in the final stages of setting up a state of the art Child Development Centre, a one stop-centre providing comprehensive interdisciplinary assessment & intervention for children with special needs offering services including Child Development Specialist, Audiologist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, Dietitian, Play Therapist, and equipped with a Snoezelen / Sensory Room. It is due to be launched before end of this year.
He added that Avisena Group will be tapping into the health tourism industry, attracting tourists primarily from Australia, Indonesia and Middle East where this endeavour is in collaboration with Marriot Hotel. Their future plan includes building a 250 bedded hospital in Klang Valley and expanding to a few other locations out of Selangor. The Group is also looking to be listed on Bursa in the next 3 years.
He added that Avisena Group will be tapping into the health tourism industry, attracting tourists primarily from Australia, Indonesia and Middle East where this endeavour is in collaboration with Marriot Hotel. In conjunction with the launch, Avisena Women’s and Children’s Specialist Hospital fully sponsored the cost of two operations amounting to RM25,000.00 involving a five-year old boy for a laparoscopic (inguinal hernia) procedure and another 10-month old baby for a cleft palate procedure. Parents of both patients were at the event to receive the cheques from Datuk Dr Omar.
