Current Updates on COVID-19 in Malaysia [18 July 2020]


The Ministry of Health (MOH) would like to inform that five (5) cases have recovered and discharged well today. Cumulatively, 8,546 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been discharged (97.5% of total cumulative cases).

A total of nine (9) additional confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported to the National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) MOH today. Cumulatively there are now 8,764 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Malaysia. Therefore, there are currently 96 active and infective COVID-19 cases. They have all been isolated and given treatment. Of the nine (9) additional cases reported today, four (4) are imported case who were infected overseas, involving three (3) Malaysians and one (1) non-Malaysian (spouse to a Malaysian). 

Of the five (5) local transmission cases, one (1) case is a non-Malaysian; from pre-departure screening for overseas travel (to China). The case was asymptomatic and was admitted into Sarawak General Hospital.

The remaining four (4) local transmission cases are among Malaysians

Currently, only one (1) confirmed COVID-19 case is receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU), and the patient is not on ventilation support.

Fortunately, no additional COVID-19 death was reported to the National CPRC MOH today. Cumulatively, there are now 122 COVID-19 deaths in Malaysia (1.39% of total cumulative cases).
