Malls under WCT Malls Management to recreate ‘Aidilfitri di Sawah Padi’ scene in support of local tourism industry reset.
WCT Malls Aidilfitri di Sawah Padi - Raya theme is in support of the Pusing Selangor Dulu campaign in reviving the state tourism sector |
Unable to balik kampung this Raya? Fret not. WCT Malls together with Tourism Selangor are working together to bring your kampung back to you.
This initiative includes building 462-square-metre replicas of paddy fields at Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya (PJ), gateway@klia2 and SkyPark Terminal.
These replicas are part of the three malls’ Aidilfitri di Sawah Padi themed decoration between 16 April 2021 to 23 May 2021.

The curation of the decor was aimed at recreating the familiar rustic scenery of rice production villages in the northern part of Selangor such as Sekinchan, Sungai Besar and Tanjung Karang at this time of the year when the paddy fields will be turning majestically golden yellow as the harvesting season begins.
Selena Chua, Chief Executive Officer – WCT Malls Management said, “We hope that our highly instagrammable ‘Aidilfitri di Sawah Padi’ theme can contribute positively towards the ongoing ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign to attract the communities living around the Klang Valley to pusing in Petaling Jaya, Sepang and Subang.”
“The management of these neighbourhood and airport malls understand the nostalgic sentiments shared among our employees and customers who are celebrating the Hari Raya and anticipating that the interstate travel will remain closed come to Hari Raya Aidilfitri.”
“As such, the team has paid a lot of attention to detail to recreate the balik kampung scene and ambience, complete with details such as bicycles, chicks, life-sized buffalo and motorcycle,” she said adding that the paddy field is also a representation of rice being the most important staple food among Malaysians and our food culture.
On the ‘Pusing Selangor Dulu’ campaign, Azrul Shah Bin Mohamad, General Manager of Tourism Selangor said, “Resetting the tourism industry at a time when interstate travels are still restricted requires a lot of creativity as it will involve creating new attractions to draw the attention of people from the same locality.”

Additionally, Paradigm Mall PJ is also working with Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ) Malaysia, a platform that empowers differently-abled persons, single women, single mothers and stay-at-home mothers with work opportunity through sewing to stitch plush toys for children diagnosed with cancer.
As such, a donation bin will be placed at Paradigm Mall PJ’s Upper Atrium, Level UG to collect unused or unwanted fabrics from the public.
Monetary contributions in support of this initiative are also welcomed.
The proceeds from the monetary contributions will be used to fund the wages of the underprivileged women from KTJ. The contributions can be made via DuitNow at the mall’s Concierge Counter, Level G.
