To help educate Malaysians about the wonders of space science and astronomy, global technology leader Xiaomi announced its partnership with Planetarium Negara. The partnership encompasses an array of fun and creative activities open to the public to participate, with attractive prizes up for grabs.
As part of the brand’s latest campaign for its flagship Mi 11 series, a space-themed smartphone photography contest titled ‘Starry Night’ will be promoted through the partnership to spark interest amongst Malaysians in capturing creative and captivating images of our night sky.
National Planetarium director, Puan Hajah Anita Binti Haji Bahari said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Xiaomi in this campaign and we hope that this collaboration can further inspire everyone to value the importance of astronomy and space science. Photography has played such an important role in inspiring people these days; what better way to showcase and capture these magically stunning space moments if not through Xiaomi’s Mi 11 series’ cutting-edge photo and video technology. We are excited to see amazing photos of our beautiful night sky captured by Malaysians and hope that it will be able to inspire them to marvel and appreciate the beauty of astronomy and space even more.”
Nicolas Shi, General Manager of Xiaomi, Malaysia and Singapore said, “We are honoured and excited to be partnering with Planetarium Negara. We believe that this partnership will not just inspire creativity among Malaysians but encourage them to also explore space science and appreciate the beauty of our solar system. Mi 11 features amazing photo night mode on three of its cameras, Ultra Night Video and 8K shooting – it is the perfect smartphone for capturing the night sky and space.”
From now until May 17, participants can submit their best space-themed photos shot on a smartphone and stand a chance to win their very own Mi 11 and an exclusive trip to Pulau Mawar, Mersing, to experience capturing the mesmerising Milky Way. Entries will be judged by a panel of professional judges with astrophotography expertise from Planetarium Negara. Winners will be announced on Xiaomi Malaysia and Planetarium Negara’s social media pages, as well as on Planetarium Negara’s official website.
