In an effort to reach out and make a difference in the lives of those in need, Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya, a shopping mall under WCT Malls Management Sdn Bhd (“WCT Malls”) has initiated a food donation drive for those who are adversely impacted by the pandemic. This initiative is in collaboration with Kechara Soup Kitchen (KSK), a Food Bank programme.

The food donation drive effort, which kicked off on 21st August 2021 is aimed at providing underprivileged families living in the Klang Valley with essential food items. The ongoing programme will end on 31st December 2021.
Members of the public and our shoppers are encouraged to support this initiative by placing food provisions consisting of dry and canned products in the food donation bins that are strategically placed at Level LG at Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya, which is located next to Lotus’s.
Selena Chua, Chief Executive Officer – WCT Malls Management said, “We have all been impacted by the global pandemic, with some being adversely affected. While some of us would still be able to earn a living amidst the pandemic, many have lost their jobs and are struggling to put food on the table. Thus, we hope that this little act of kindness will help to ease the burden of the underprivileged communities, have a positive impact on their lives and inspire more people to practice good deeds”.
In an effort to make giving a meaningful act amongst the communities, donors are encouraged to personalise their gift of love by writing an encouraging message that will be attached to the contribution. Greeting cards can be obtained from the Concierge Counter, Level G at Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya.

“The gesture of sending a personalised message to spread love and kindness to the recipients of the food donation would create a lasting impression among the recipients knowing that the community cares and are willing to go the extra mile to put a smile on their faces. Every contribution matters and it means a lot to the person who is receiving it, especially during these trying times”, added Selena.
Once the food donation bins are fully filled, volunteers from KSK will collect these food supplies and will distribute them to the underprivileged families. The cycle continues as the public begin to replenish their food supplies contributions in the bins.
“Since we started this campaign, we have received tremendous support from our customers and have been able to contribute necessities to the underprivileged households. We hope to be able to continue to make an impact on the lives of those in need. We look forward to the valuable support from the public. It is time for us to come together to spread kindness and render our support as their lives matter too,” concluded Selena.

In 2020, Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya collaborated with KSK for a year-long Food Donation Drive, which had accumulated dry goods worth over RM4,000 from the public for donations to more than 10 underprivileged families at the nearby PPR community. By leveraging on its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Paradigm Mall Petaling Jaya aims to continue its effort in providing sustainable support to the needy communities through more collaborations with NGOs in the future.
