La Maison 1888, Pierre Gagnaire’s Acclaimed French Restaurant at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, Joins the Prestigious “50 Best Discovery” List for 2021

InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, the five- star beachfront resort on Vietnam’s central coast, is celebrating another major international accolade after Maison 1888, its highly-acclaimed French restaurant overseen by culinary icon Pierre Gagnaire, was named on the “50 Best Discovery” list for 2021.

50 Best Discovery is an elite collection of the finest, expert-approved drinking and dining destinations on the planet. By joining this prestigious list, La Maison 1888 becomes one of just over 2,000 unique venues around the world, as selected by the World’s 50 Best Academy – a global group of more than 1,000 international experts, including food writers, critics, chefs, restaurateurs and well-travelled gourmets. So guests can be confident that every entry on the 50 Best Discovery list is proven to provide truly outstanding gastronomic experiences.

Housed in an antique mansion designed by maverick architect Bill Bensley, La Maison 1888 immerses guests in the opulence and elegance of a bygone era. Nestled in a lush forested hillside on Vietnam’s Son Tra Peninsula, overlooking the ocean, it is separated into a series of private dining venues, from the formal Accountant’s Room to the adventurous Traveler’s Room and the more risqué Le Boudoir de Madame.

The first restaurant in Vietnam to be helmed by a three-Michelin-starred French chef, this dramatic dining destination presents three-, four- and five-course set menus that fuse fine French flavours with an unmistakeable Vietnamese influence. Local and seasonal ingredients are treated with the utmost care and attention by a talented team of chefs, who combine cutting-edge cooking techniques with picture-perfect presentation.

The world-class cuisine at La Maison 1888 is complemented by one of the most extraordinary wine lists anywhere in Asia. A dedicated sommelier oversees the largest wine cellar in Vietnam, containing a curated collection of rare labels, many of which cannot be found anywhere else in the country. It is little wonder that La Maison 1888 has received Wine Spectator’s Best of Award of Excellence every year since 2018.

This is not the only important international award achieved by La Maison 1888; this remarkable restaurant was also named as one of CNN’s Top 10 World’s Best Restaurants, and the World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant by the World Travel Awards.

“We are deeply honoured to have been named on the 50 Best Discovery list, which represents the best dining and drinking establishments the world has to offer. At La Maison 1888, we strive to create one-of-a-kind experiences that transport our guests back to a more chic and sophisticated era, while also pushing the boundaries of modern gastronomy. To have been included on this distinguished list tells us that we are succeeding, and I look forward to creating memorable moments for even more local and international diners in future,” said Seif Hamdy, General Manager, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.

La Maison 1888 is located at InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, a 39-hectare paradise that blends personalised service and unparalleled amenities across four levels – Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea – all linked by a funicular railway that rises up the forested hillside. Guests can enjoy epicurean artistry at a choice of four restaurant and bars, soothe their senses at HARNN Heritage Spa, or simply unwind on the 700-metre-long beach.
