Following the success of the Galaxy S21 Ultra, which was released last year and widely praised by the media and users, Samsung pursued its mission this year by improving the details on an excellent foundation to improve the new flagship's experience.
Last year's S21 Ultra performed well in all areas. Still, some Galaxy fans claim that it lacked a built-in S Pen. Well, Samsung did listen to their lover. This year's Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra makes up for this shortcoming by successfully inserting the S Pen under the condition that the weight and volume of the phone have not changed significantly. On top of that, it also somehow adopts the blockier industrial design language of the Galaxy Note series.
The Pen slot directly replaces the Galaxy Note series; additionally, the battery capacity is maintained at 5000mAh; it is conceivable how hard Samsung design engineers worked this time to please Galaxy Note series fans.
So, will the Galaxy S22 Ultra be able to outperform the Galaxy S21 Ultra this time?
We will sharing with you thru the unboxing of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra before sharing a more detailed review in the coming few weeks!
Unboxing
Like last year's flagships, the Galaxy S22 Ultra's box has a "slim" design and a black bottom, but the design on the front of the box has been upgraded with putting the phone model and the oversized 'S' on the box. Here's a fun fact: the color of the S on the box corresponds to the color of the Galaxy S22 Ultra inside! The box is also narrower than the previous S21 Ultra box and reported using more environmentally friendly materials.
As expected, this year's Galaxy S22 series does not include a charger adapter; thus, if you don't have one, you may need to purchase one separately.
Included in the retail box of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra are the following items:
- Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone
- Set of Galaxy S22 series documents
- Power cable
- SIM card tray extraction pin
Compared to the previous generation, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers more body color options this time. In addition to the traditional black and white, burgundy and green styles are now available. You can choose options that are more suited to your personal preferences.
The phone, like its predecessor, has a brilliant 6.8-inch Quad HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with support for 120Hz refresh rate in Quad HD+ resolution. This model has an LTPO screen, so the refresh rate adjusts to the content you're viewing, ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz for the best quality while extending battery life even further. It has the brightest peak brightness of any Galaxy smartphone at 1750 nits.
The power and volume buttons are on the right; there's a USB-C port on the bottom, no headphone jack, and no microSD card slot. On the plus side, the entire package is water and dust-resistant, thanks to official IP68 certification. This phone comes with a 40MP front camera, a 6.8-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an S Pen, and four rear cameras. It runs the latest OneUI 4.1 and supports 5G mobile data connectivity.
The current generation of S22 Ultra is unquestionably the first S-series flagship phone with an integrated S Pen. The design is identical to that of previous Note-series phones. Unlike its last generation, the S Pen comes together with the phone. The S Pen of the S22 Ultra is essentially the same as the S Pen of the previous Note series, with no significant differences in use and function, so the feel of use should be familiar to Note phone users.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra maintains a luxurious configuration, with Corning's latest Gorilla Glass Victus+ glass on the front and back of the phone, which is tougher than the previous generation. The back of the Galaxy S22 Ultra retains the frosted treatment that does not attract fingerprints.
As we give out a try for incoming few weeks, we know that this is the one Android phone we are confident Samsung will update and polish. Everything else is fantastic: the refined design, the stunning display, the S Pen, the powerful processor, and faster charging. So, stay tuned for our detailed review soon as there's so much more to be share with you.
