Costa Coffee launches exclusively designed Ramadan themed cups and Sampul Raya in collaboration with local artist Sharina Shahrin.
Costa Coffee invites Malaysians to observe Ramadan and celebrate the Raya season this year with a unique twist. Unveiling their first-ever collaboration with Sharina Shahrin - a rising local artist who pioneered exclusively designed Costa Ramadan cups and Sampul Raya, designed by a Malaysian for Malaysia. The festive collection features Sharina’s own visual interpretation of cultural arts aesthetics such as batik motifs and local art and culture, which offer a creative take on the concept of family and togetherness as they reunite this festive season.
As the new normal is upon us, Costa Coffee is encouraging Malaysians to ‘Craft Memories, Savour Moments’ with their loved ones, echoing its passion in delivering great coffee to savour joyous moments together. Kicking off today, Malaysians can get their hands on a range of mouth-watering festive bites and drinks, served in seasonal Costa Ramadan themed cups and celebrated with a pocketful of duit Raya in Costa’s exclusively designed Sampul Raya.
This collaboration brings together Sharina’s ideals of “Togetherness” encapsulated in local art and culture, manifesting in Costa Coffee’s first ever Ramadan designed cups. The illustration of the crescent moon as the symbol of Raya where the dates for Ramadan and Eid are determined by sighting the moon at night; Bunga Raya, our national flower which echoes the idea of unity yet symbolises celebration at the same time; Kuih Sempirit, one of the quintessential dessert cookies that are often enjoyed and shared with loved ones during the festive season.
Tying this together are Costa Coffee’s enticing seasonal bites and beverages where Malaysians can break their fast with during this Ramadan. Beginning 7 April, Malaysians can enjoy the all new seasonal beverage, Rasa Raya Vanilla Frappe from Costa Smart CafĆ© and returning favourites Bandung Oat Bandung, Chicken Rendang Wrap and Pandan Crunch Cake from Costa Coffee Stores. For those who are taking a trip back to their loved ones this festive season, the seasonal menu from Costa Coffee at the Kuala Lumpur International and Langkawi airports includes Salted Caramel Cappuccino and Pandan Crunch Cake will not disappoint.
“This year marks a wonderful time for joyful reunions amongst family and friends after two years of lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Costa Coffee celebrates the festivities this year with a local Malaysian touch through our collaborative effort with Sharina Shahrin, to design for the first time a Malaysian version Ramadan cup which features local cultural elements such as our Bunga Raya and Kuih Sempirit. Along the same design, we expanded our collaboration with Sharina to include Costa Coffee’s exclusively designed Sampul Raya,” said Lim Ju Lee, Head of Marketing, Costa Express Malaysia.
“Our collaboration showcases Costa Coffee’s values in sharing great coffee with all as we extend our voice to like-minded local talents such as Sharina, who believes art and culture is to be enjoyed by all Malaysians - a shared passion of ours for Malaysians to continue crafting more meaningful memories and savouring unique moments with loved ones through great coffee and art,” she added.
Sharina Shahrin mentioned, “Raya is a celebration of togetherness, the coming together of family and friends to celebrate a month of peace, forgiveness and gratefulness. I am happy for the opportunity to collaborate with a brand that I love that shares the same values that I have in highlighting and celebrating the unique cultural heritage of Malaysians this Ramadan and Raya season.”
No matter where you are in this Ramadan and Raya season, you can enjoy festive flavours with Costa Coffee. The limited-edition Costa Ramadan cups will be available at all Costa Coffee Stores and Costa Smart CafƩ nationwide. Costa Coffee Sampul Raya, available in three colours (red, cream and green) will be redeemable with the purchase of our all-time favourite Bandung Oat Bandung from Costa Coffee Stores or the new limited-time offer drink, Rasa Raya Vanilla Frappe from Costa Smart CafƩ beginning April 7, 2022, while stocks last.
