The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G smartphone was recently released in Malaysia. The main camera, which has a resolution of 108 MP, is one of the phone's main selling points.
This is the first time a 108 MP camera has appeared on a Samsung phone in the Galaxy A series. Typically, Samsung only includes a camera with this resolution in its flagship series.
In addition to improvements, Samsung has cut or removed a number of features from the Galaxy A73's body and packaging box. With powerful performance and a battery that is said to last for a long time, the Galaxy A73 5G also has four rear cameras and one front camera, allowing users to take a variety of creatively interesting photos.
This phone has an NFC sensor that allows users to top up e-money card balances. Curious about the features of Samsung's latest mid-range phone? Here is our full hands-on review on Samsung Galaxy A73 5G.
Review
The Samsung A73 5G has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus screen with Full HD Plus resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels), a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a maximum brightness of 800 nits, and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy A73 appears to be a continuation of its predecessor.
This phone, for example, retains an infinity-O design screen with a punch hole as a home for a 32 MP (f/2.2) front camera.
A 6.7-inch Super AMOLED type panel with Full HD Plus resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and a maximum brightness level of 800 nits is used for the screen. Screen technology has the ability to delight the user's eyes with sharp and clear image or content quality.
Furthermore, because it already has a Super AMOLED panel, the Samsung Galaxy A73 screen is compatible with the most recent biometric features, such as an in-display fingerprint scanner. This feature will make unlocking the screen easier for users.
The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G's screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, so sliding the screen, navigating menus, and switching between applications feels smooth and fluid.
Similarly, when watching videos or movies. Moving on to holes and ports, Samsung has officially removed the 3.5mm audio jack plug from the Galaxy A73 5G.
Users can no longer connect earphones or wired headsets to this phone because it has been removed. Users can also purchase a USB type C adapter for the 3.5mm audio jack to continue listening to audio content with earphones or a wired headset. Users can also use a wireless headset or Bluetooth speaker instead.
The Galaxy A72 previously had a 3.5mm audio jack hole at the bottom of the phone body. There is now only a speaker hole and a USB C port at the bottom of the Galaxy A73. The rest of the Galaxy A73's port and hole placement is identical to that of its predecessor. The volume control buttons and the power button, for example, are located on the right side of the phone's body. While on the left, make sure there are no buttons or holes.
Finally, the Galaxy A73 5G's SIM drawer is located on the top side. The SIM drawer is a hybrid dual SIM device that can be used in two ways. First, you can used up to two SIM cards (nano) in lieu of a microSD card. Second, to increase internal storage capacity, users use a single SIM card (nano) in conjunction with an external microSD card of up to 1 TB.
The screen of the Galaxy A72's successor is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, making it more scratch-resistant. The Samsung A73 5G's back is also similar to the Galaxy A72, with a rectangular camera module. The camera module houses four vertically arranged rear cameras, as well as an LED flash.
The Galaxy A73's appearance hasn't changed much. However, the specifications, particularly the main camera specifications, tell a different story. The Samsung A73's main camera specifications have now increased in class because it is equipped with a 108 MP resolution lens. Previously, the Galaxy A72 had only a 64 MP primary camera.
This camera is unique in that it is the first time that Samsung has included a 108 MP main camera in the Galaxy A series. This high-resolution camera was previously only available on Samsung flagship phones, such as the Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G.
Not only does the Galaxy A73 5G's 108 main camera have a high resolution, but it also has a number of excellent features, such as Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Video Digital Image Stabilization (VDIS). These two features enable users to take sharp and stable photos and videos with the Galaxy A73 5G's 108 MP main camera.
The main camera on this phone can record video at up to UHD 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) at 30 frames per second. On the 108 MP camera on the Galaxy A73 5G, Samsung employs the "nona-binning" technique when producing images. AI is used to combine nine pixels into one pixel in the "nona-binning" technique. This technology promises sharper, more detailed images.
The 108 MP camera on the Galaxy A73 5G can produce images with a high resolution of 12,000 x 900 pixels thanks to the "nona-binning" technique and this large pixel size. Furthermore, the images from this phone's main camera shots are said to be more detailed and bright.
There are three cameras in addition to the 108 MP main camera: a 12 MP ultrawide camera (f/2.2), a 5 MP depth sensor camera (f/2.4), and a 5 MP macro camera (f/2.4). Samsung includes a 32 MP (f/2.2) camera on the front for selfies and video calls. In addition to the features listed above, the Galaxy A73 5G has a number of other interesting supporting features.
Some of them include Fun Mode, which allows you to apply various Snapchat filters directly from the camera app, the RAM Plus feature, which can "increase" RAM capacity up to 8 GB, and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
Support for 5G and other features
The Samsung A73, like other modern phones, supports 5G networks in Malaysia. This phone supports 5G networks in the n1, n3, n5, n7, n28, n66, n40, n41, and n78 bands, according to the official Samsung Malaysia website.
In terms of power, the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports Super Fast Charging 25 watts.
According to the manufacturer, the fast charger technology can charge the phone up to 46 percent in 30 minutes and fully charge the battery in 70-80 minutes.
This phone is already equipped with the Android 12 operating system and the One UI 4.1 interface. Other features of the Galaxy A72's successor include NFC, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, USB Type-C, and a Liquid Cooling System.
Furthermore, the Samsung A73 5G comes with IP67 certified water and dust resistance features. With this certification, this phone is claimed to be able to survive for 30 minutes in water at a depth of 1.5 meters.
Water and dust resistance
The Galaxy A73 5G, like the Galaxy A53 5G, has an IP67 certificate for water and dust resistance. This means that for a maximum of 30 minutes, this phone can withstand water pressure at a depth of up to 1 metre.
It should be noted, however, that the water referred to here is fresh water, not water from the beach or sea, or water from swimming pools or water mixed with soap foam. Because it is waterproof, the Galaxy A73 5G is naturally resistant to various splashes of water and rain. As a result, users will not have to worry about using this phone if it suddenly rains and they are unable to seek shelter.
Summary
The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G specifications include a 108MP + OIS sensor, a 6.7-inch FHD + Super AMOLED + screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, powerful performance thanks to the Snapdragon 778G processor, a 5,000mAh battery that lasts up to 2 days, and IP67 water and dust resistance certification.
This capital elevates the Galaxy A73 5G above existing limitations in expressing passion through high-quality positive content creation, making it a mainstay for the Awesome Generation.
