HUAWEI officially launched its Audio Lab in Shanghai last month, for continuous breakthroughs in its audio technologies. The innovation will strengthen HUAWEI’s R&D capabilities and affirm its status as a leading TWS earphone brand in the digital era.
Integrates Strong Capabilities of More Than Seven Global R&D Centers into its Audio Area
Integrates Strong Capabilities of More Than Seven Global R&D Centers into its Audio Area
HUAWEI is always committed to R&D across all domains, including employing a team of 500+ acoustical engineers across its seven global R&D centers, including institutes in Tokyo, Munich, and Tampere in Finland.
Shanghai Audio Lab is HUAWEI's largest audio lab, with an area of 2000 m2. It consists of seven zones: Headset call Lab, 3D Audio Lab, Headset Noise Cancellation Lab, Indoor Scenarios Lab, Hardware Innovation Lab, Audio Experience Research Lab, and In-car Scenarios Lab.
It comes equipped with two industry-leading, objective earphone evaluation systems, one for active noise cancellation (ANC), and the other for sound quality. There's also a Variable Acoustic Lab, the first of its kind in the industry. It is mainly used for testing and adjusting the audio playback effects on smartphones, tablets, PCs, speakers, Vision products, and home theatres across a wide range of different listening environments.
The space is also used to calibrate sound pickup during earphone calls. The background noise in one of the labs is only at 9 dBA, where heartbeats can be heard. Furthermore, the Headset Call Lab develops a HUAWEI-exclusive deep neural network (DNN) noise cancellation algorithm, which performs in-depth learning on over 500 types of noises and hundreds of millions of noise data records, including crowded environments like subways, cars, shopping malls, parties, bars, concerts, and outdoors.
The Call Noise Cancellation Lab is built to innovate cutting-edge technologies, including Intelligent Dynamic ANC and Pure Voice Call. It is responsible for sound quality adjustment and spatial audio effect evaluations. All of these achievements have been applied to HUAWEI’s flagship products.
End-To-End Audio Capabilities That Redefine Listening in The Digital Era
Consumers impose lofty expectations on wireless earphones, from noise cancellation, and sound quality to smart interactions. Despite it may be challenging to pack all these capabilities into a single device, HUAWEI showcases end-to-end capabilities by incorporating the company's technological prowess, which is able to provide systematic audio solutions, covering the following attributes: innovative components, iterations over architecture, cutting-edge algorithms, sound effect commissioning, and Bluetooth encoding and decoding.
HUAWEI Audio Looks into The Future
Future audio technologies will be increasingly interlinked with other capabilities. Given this, HUAWEI’s audio technologies will be applied to speakers or microphones. The company has introduced its next-level audio technologies to tablets, PCs, mobile phones, and Vision products, with more products on the way.
The reveal of Shanghai Audio Lab aims to demonstrate HUAWEI's commitment to innovation and collaboration in the field of acoustics. HUAWEI will continue to research and develop new technologies that innovate smart listening accessible to every individual and household.
The recently launched HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 embodies this commitment to end-to-end, high-fidelity audio. In terms of hardware, it incorporates the first-ever "Ultra-hearing True Sound Dual Driver" system with digital cross-over technology, delivering a better surging bass and good sound quality with rich details.
In terms of software, HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 features an algorithm for Triple Adaptive EQ, to ensure consistently sterling audio, with dual HD audio codecs: LDAC. This setup keeps sound quality excellent during transmission, producing richer timbres across the board.
Priced at RM899, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 features intelligent functions to meet consumers’ daily needs. Available in Silver Blue, Ceramic White, and Carbon Black, consumers will be receiving a HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 Protective Case* and 3 months of free HUAWEI Music Premium** with every purchase of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 on HUAWEI Official Website, HUAWEI Official Store on Shopee or HUAWEI Flagship Store on Lazada.
Moreover, existing HUAWEI users are eligible to redeem vouchers worth RM100 through MyHUAWEI App. The vouchers can only be used to purchase HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 at any HUAWEI Experience Store or HUAWEI Official Website until 11 September 2022.
