Annual Community Month Program in collaboration with RMHC aims to create a positive impact for more than 12,000 orphans nationwide
McDonald's Malaysia, in collaboration with its charity of choice Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Malaysia once again showcase their commitment and efforts to bring cheer and joy to the underprivilged children in the country. The Community Month Program, which is held in October every year, focuses on the welfare and well-being of children. This initiaitve has been rolled out throughout Malaysia with Negeri Sembilan being the latest stop after successfully launching it in Kuala Lumpur recently.
This is the second year that McDonald's Birthday Party celebrations are held at children's welfare homes. In Negeri Sembilan, one of the selected beneficiaries is the Al-Khair Orphanage Care Center. In total, this year’s Community Month Program aims to host birthday party celebrations at more than 400 children's welfare homes nationwide, impacting up to 12,000 orphans.

"McDonald's is committed in uplifting the well-being of the communities where we operate. That is our duty as a caring corporate citizen and also in line with our company's core values. Our partnership with RMHC Malaysia as McDonald's charity of choice, will help us extend our reach to various groups especially children who are less fortunate in this country," said Dato’ Azmir Jaafar, Managing Director and Local Operating Partner, McDonald's Malaysia.

"The McD & RMHC Community Program is one of several community-focused efforts that McDonald's Malaysia is leading, especially aiming to impact children in need. This year, community activities have double to over 14,000 and in total, McDonald's and RMHC have contributed over RM400,000 to enliven the Community Month this year,” added Dato' Azmir Jaafar.

In addition to the McDonald’s Birthday Party celebrations, RHMC Malaysia also helped upgrade the facilities in the children's welfare homes via the donation of 1,000 sets of new mattresses, pillows, and bedsheets to 20 children's welfare homes nationwide.

"Every child loves McDonald's, and by the look on their faces you can see that they are quite excited and happy to celebrate their birthday and participating in activities with the McDonald's family. This will be a sweet memory for them and we are very grateful to McDonald's and RHMC for their support," said Rahman Bin Haji Musa, Chairman of the Al-Khair Orphanage Care Center.

The annual Community Month is guided by a major initiative known as the McD & RMHC Community Program which oversees all community efforts implemented by McDonald's Malaysia and RHMC Malaysia. The McDonald's and RMHC Community Program is now entering its sixth year since it was first introduced in 2017, where more than 7,000 community activities are carried out every year involving its employees nationwide.
