Showcasing its tech capabilities, talent development and retention initiatives, and CARSOME Academy’s plans to elevate Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) offerings, the company expressed its readiness to support the Government in strengthening the nation’s tech and human capital ecosystem.
Based on a social media posting following the visit, Minister of Human Resources, Yang Berhormat Tuan V. Sivakumar said: “As Malaysia’s first ‘Tech Unicorn’, CARSOME’s achievements have been truly remarkable. Their effort to digitalize the vehicle purchasing process in the country has led to the creation of various new jobs and business opportunities.”
“I am intrigued by CARSOME Academy, a brainchild of CARSOME, which is instrumental in providing opportunities for our nation’s youth to acquire skills in the automotive sector. This effort is in line with the Government’s effort to elevate TVET institutions in the country,” Yang Berhormat Tuan V. Sivakumar added.
CARSOME Co-Founder and CARSOME Academy CEO, Jiun Ee Teoh who led the briefing to the Minister said: “We would like to thank Yang Berhormat Tuan V. Sivakumar for his working visit to CARSOME. We are aligned with his commitment towards elevating the nation’s human capital ecosystem to power the nation’s growth. In line with this, we look forward to contributing our knowledge, expertise and experience towards the creation of high quality jobs and opportunities that will cement Malaysia’s attractiveness to world class talents.”
“We also welcome the Minister’s interest in CARSOME Academy, which was founded to help meet the industry’s demand for skilled automotive talents whilst creating positive social impact in local communities. It is encouraging how close TVET is to the Minister’s heart and we look forward to driving greater momentum in this space so that Malaysian youths can access solid opportunities to upskill and build a brighter future.”
In January 2021, CARSOME set up its first technical institution in Malaysia, the CARSOME Academy, to offer Malaysian youths technical education and increase their employability. The institution is a National Dual Training System (Sistem Latihan Dual Nasional - SLDN) training center accredited by the Department of Skills Development under the Ministry of Human Resources. Since then, CARSOME Academy has expanded to Thailand and Indonesia and is an accredited center in both countries.
