Unboxing the new Samsung Galaxy A54 5G

Samsung's newest mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy A34 5G and Galaxy A54 5G, were officially released in the middle of March. The 8GB/256GB memory version of the Samsung Galaxy A34 5G costs RM1,599, while the Galaxy A54 5G starts at RM1,899 for the same amount of storage and memory. We were able to test the most expensive variant of Samsung's new mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A54 5G.

Unpacking
The Galaxy A54 5G, like other smartphones in Samsung's A Series released over the past few years, still comes in the same box it debuted in. White in color, it has a smartphone image on the front and additional information on the sides and back for easy reference.

The Galaxy A54 5G retail package contains the smartphone itself, a brief user guide and warranty card, a USB Type-C cable, and a SIM ejector tool to access the SIM card slot. The Galaxy A54 5G's retail packaging, like that of its predecessors, does not feature a built-in charger adapter.

There are also no other accessories, like earphones or phone cases. Consumers shouldn't be surprised by this, it seems. Samsung has been doing this since the last generation of the A Series, which was last year. So, you need to buy another charger adapter that works with USB Type-C or use the one you already have.

The variant we are unboxing is a purple colour that Samsung calls Awesome Violet. There are also other colour choices, like bright green (Awesome Lime), dark Gray (Awesome Graphite), and white (Awesome White).

Design
The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G in Awesome Violet is the first thing we opened the box. The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G resembles the company's flagship Samsung Galaxy S23 in terms of appearance.

Stunning in the eyes as well. The Galaxy A54 5G no longer features a camera frame on the back cover, unlike its predecessor. So, it appears as though the three camera modules are built into this smartphone. The back is glossy and free of fingerprints as well. The Galaxy S23 Series 5G is becoming more comparable to this.

The Infinity-O screen design philosophy is implemented in this Samsung smartphone's display, which also conceals a front-facing camera. There's a fingerprint reader embedded in there somewhere, too. At the same time, a tiny speaker can be seen in the earpiece. Perfect. A microphone and SIM card slot can be found on the top edge. The bottom features a speaker, a USB-C port, and two microphones.

The left side of the screen is hole-free, while the right side houses the power and volume controls. Aside from that, the USB Type-C port doubles as a 3.5 mm audio jack, which is still absent on this smartphone.

The smartphone itself is 158 millimeters in length, 76.7 millimeters in width, and 8.2 millimeters in thickness. Meanwhile, at 202 grams, it's a bit heavier than the budget-friendly Galaxy A34 5G. As soon as you pick up this handset, you'll have the familiarity of a Samsung from the mid-range class, but with the premium feel and performance of a flagship smartphone. The display is easy on the eyes, and holding this smartphone is still a pleasant experience.
