Homegrown business-to-business e-commerce specialist Dropee in collaboration with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN), has just launched the Digital Niaga programme, a new comprehensive initiative to address supply chain gaps and expedite financing approvals for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This new programme is set to assist MSMEs to thrive in an increasingly complex marketplace.

Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid, Chief Business Officer of BSN exchanged the MoU document with Aizat Rahim, Managing Director of Dropee, while witnessed by Jay Khairil, Chief Executive of BSN (in left picture) and Datuk Khairul Ismail, Director of Dropee (in right picture).

Small businesses account for more than 97% of total commerce in Malaysia and are vital to the growth of the local economy and the community. Many of these businesses require adequate support to ensure continuous competitiveness in the marketplace.

Staying true to its vision of ‘No Malaysian Left Behind’, BSN is always attentive to the community's needs by diversifying their products and services tailored to various segments, including supporting local businesses. BSN will collaborate with Dropee in identifying qualified MSMEs to participate in the Digital Niaga programme. MSMEs then will undergo training during the programme to adopt technology and digital solutions in their businesses. The collaboration targets RM300 million worth of financing for MSMEs with tailored products such as revolving supply chain financing for their various business needs. One key area affecting MSMEs is digital adoption in their daily operations where the cost is also particularly challenging.

“BSN sees micro and small businesses as the backbone of the Malaysian economy. We are pleased to partner with Dropee, which is timely and coincides with our aim to drive digital transformation among MSMEs for enhanced operational efficiency and to gain a competitive advantage in today's dynamic business landscape,” said Mujibburrahman Abd Rashid, Chief Business Officer of BSN.

"The Digital Niaga programme is a golden opportunity for MSMEs to turn their businesses around. This programme provides the platform for them to find the right digital tools and easy access to financial resources. The aim is to boost revenue and growth for millions of Malaysia's MSMEs by connecting them to the right solutions and partners, such as BSN,” said Aizat Rahim, Managing Director of Dropee during the official launch of Digital Niaga.

As digital financial services and Omni-channel commerce continue to shape the retail industry, this collaboration is set to equip MSMEs with the know-how to tap into the benefits of the burgeoning internet economy, which is projected to contribute 22.6% to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) and generate half a million jobs by 2025.

With a shared value to empower MSMEs in Malaysia, the Digital Niaga programme will provide businesses with the tools to fast-track their digital transformation and technology adoption. Through this programme, MSMEs will have the opportunity to be a part of Dropee’s e-commerce platform, the largest online B2B marketplace in Malaysia and utilise many convenient digital tools available to automate their everyday business operations.

Through data-driven insights, Dropee also forecasts product demand and recommends suitable financing products, increasing MSME competitiveness in the market as they are now able to anticipate more easily market trends, improve procurement processes for maximum profitability and find the right products with the best prices at the right time.

Aizat further added on “The Digital Niaga programme is aligned with the MADANI Economy aspirations to develop MSMEs into regional champions and provide the necessary resources to drive their export potential, positioning Malaysia as the world's top 30 largest economies. We hope MSMEs will participate in the Digital Niaga programme and seize the opportunity to scale from a micro enterprise to one that has exporting capabilities. By providing a holistic approach to support, Dropee and BSN are poised to drive sustainable growth and innovation within Malaysia's vibrant MSME sector.”

Since its establishment, Dropee has played a pivotal role in driving the success stories of some 150,000 retailers and suppliers, including the likes of Yee Lee, Kawan Food and Dairy Champ. As Malaysia’s leading B2B e-commerce provider, the brand’s regional presence has also resulted in collaborations with national giants like Petronas, Mydin, and MR.DIY.
