New Research Reveals Stress Reduction And Mood Enhancement Through The Consumption Of Cultured Milk

VITAGEN, Malaysia's leading cultured milk brand, is thrilled to announce the findings from the latest clinical research “Influence of Lactobacillus-containing cultured milk drink Ameliorates Depression in irritable bowel syndrome ” conducted by a team of experts from GUT Research Group, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Jointly led by Prof. Norfilza Mohd Mokhtar and Prof. Dr. Raja Affendi Raja Ali, the study revealed the positive impact of consuming probiotics, specifically Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus paracasei, on mental well-being and gut health among individuals suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

The study's revelations are astounding:
  • Nourishing Joy and Well-Being: Consuming VITAGEN has been clinically proven to enhance quality of life, with an impressive increase of 7.1% in life satisfaction scores. Additionally, the beverage has a substantial impact on mental health, reducing depression scores by almost 42%, indicating a potential role that it plays in supporting emotional well-being. Furthermore, the beverage appears to contribute to an uplift in serotonin levels, often referred to as the "happy hormone," with an increase of almost 47%.
  • Relief for IBS Sufferers: Studies show that consuming VITAGEN shows a significant decrease of 42.1% in symptoms such as severity, bowel habits, and abdominal pain. This suggests a potential role for VITAGEN in managing digestive health and alleviating the challenges associated with IBS.

VITAGEN, a pioneering brand established in 1977, is known for its delectable taste and the benefits of clinically proven probiotic strains. A well-functioning digestive system not only improves digestion but also bolsters the immune system and plays a pivotal role in regulating mood and relieving stress. The gut-brain axis connects emotions and cognitive functions with the gut. Modulating gut bacteria through psycho-biotics has been identified as a potential avenue to manage depression. Notably, 95% of serotonin, a mood-regulating chemical, is produced by gut bacteria, and 70% of the immune system is located within the gut.

Mr. Poh Eng Lip, General Manager of VITAGEN, said, "This research marks a significant milestone for VITAGEN as Lactobacillus acidophilus and Lactobacillus paracasei probiotic strains are present in VITAGEN along with billions of live probiotic cultures. We believe this finding further solidifies VITAGEN's position as the leading cultured milk brand in Malaysia and we look forward to further findings that deepen our understanding of the critical role of the gut in overall well-being.”

“Learning this, we will continue to educate and remind everyone to prioritise their gut health for a better quality of life. Here at VITAGEN, we understand the crucial role of gut health and we will continue to champion this," said Yap Jay Queen, Head of Marketing for Cotra Enterprises.

VITAGEN remains committed to its dedication to promote healthy gut health and as part of this mission, the company will continue to educate people and empower individuals to care for their gut.
