New-age airline Vietjet solidifies its commitment to safety, efficiency, and sustainability through strategic alliances forged at the ongoing Singapore Airshow 2024 with industry giants Airbus, Pratt & Whitney, and Safran Aerosystems. These collaborations mark significant milestones in Vietjet’s journey towards enhancing, empowering, and supporting the airline’s fleet and flight network expansion for its future growth.
Vietjet and Airbus Announce the Order for 20 Widebody A330neo
Vietjet secures a landmark agreement with Airbus, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the order of 20 A330neo (A330-900) widebody aircraft, marking one of the airshow’s largest deals thus far and Vietjet’s most substantial widebody purchase to date. These aircraft will serve Vietjet’s expanding long-range network and high-capacity regional services, replacing the carrier’s current leased A330-300 fleet. The A330neo order not only supports network expansion and operational efficiency, but also aligns with Vietjet’s sustainable development strategy, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.
Vietjet opts for Rolls-Royce’s Trent 7000 engines powered 20 A330neo
Vietjet and Rolls-Royce have announced a commitment to acquiring 20 Trent 7000-powered A330neo aircraft, which will complement the airline's existing widebody fleet of seven A330ceo aircraft powered by the Trent 700 engine.
With a keen focus on sustainability, the Trent 7000 engines deliver a 14% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat while significantly reducing emissions. The emission reduction initiative will enable the airline to avoid more than one hundred thousand tons of CO2 over the lifetime of each aircraft, as the airline expands its operations responsibly and sustainably in the coming years.
As the Trent 7000 engines propel Vietjet's newest generation of Airbus A330neo, they will play a crucial role in elevating Vietjet's widebody fleet to new technological heights. These engines are expected to significantly enhance flight quality, simultaneously increasing operational reliability and efficiency.
Vietjet Selects RTX’s Pratt & Whitney to Power 19 Additional A321neo Aircraft
Concurrently, Vietjet strengthens its partnership with Pratt & Whitney, an RTX (NYSE: RTX) business, by exercising options for an additional 19 firm GTF-powered A321neo aircraft. This strategic move reinforces Vietjet’s confidence in Pratt & Whitney’s technology leadership and commitment to environmental sustainability. Alongside the aircraft order, Pratt & Whitney will also provide Vietjet with engine maintenance through EngineWise® Comprehensive service agreement, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for its expanding fleet.
Vietjet and Safran Announce Strategic Partnership for Safety Equipment on B737MAX Aircraft

Through this collaboration, Vietjet reinforces its commitment to passenger safety by incorporating essential safety equipment such as Life Rafts, Protective Breathing Equipment, Crew Masks, and Life Vests, alongside associated support services. Leveraging Safran Aerosystems' innovative solutions and commitment to excellence, Vietjet aims to elevate safety standards across its operations.
Vietjet, boasting over 105 aircraft and experiencing growing passenger volumes, is actively extending its flight network across Vietnam, Australia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, and numerous other intercontinental destinations.
