Vietjet plans to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region by expanding its international flight network connecting Vietnam’s capital city, Hanoi, to Hiroshima in Japan and Melbourne in Australia. As travel demand rebounds across the regions, these new direct air links, including the transcontinental connection, are expected to deliver immense customer value through convenient and cost-effective scheduling.
The announcement of these new routes was made at the Vietnam-Australia Business Forum 2024, in the presence of Vietnam Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Both Vietnamese and Australian leaders welcomed the expanded connectivity, congratulating Vietjet on its remarkable growth.
The Hanoi – Melbourne route is scheduled to commence operations on 3 June 2024, running twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays from Hanoi, with arrivals in Melbourne later the same day. Return flights will depart Melbourne on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Vietjet presently operates numerous flights between Vietnam and Australia, with 58 weekly flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the five largest Australian cities: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Adelaide, utilising world-class modern aircraft such as the A330 and A321.
Additionally, Vietjet will inaugurate direct flights between Hanoi and Hiroshima, commencing on 12 May 2024. This new service marks the first regular non-stop air link from the Chugoku and Shikoku regions to Vietnam. The Hanoi - Hiroshima route will offer twice-weekly return flights on Thursdays and Sundays, with a flight time of approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes. This new service will increase Vietjet’s flight network between Vietnam and Japan to eight direct services, connecting Vietnam’s major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to prominent Japanese cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Hiroshima.
To celebrate the introduction of these new routes, Vietjet is offering budget-friendly tickets starting from just RM120 all-in at www.vietjetair.com and the Vietjet Air mobile app. These promotional tickets will be available every Friday from 8 March 2024, with travel valid from 8 March to 31 December 2024 (excluding holidays and peak seasons).
Hanoi, known as the heart of Vietnam, is the cultural, economic, and political centre imbued with Vietnamese identity. With over a thousand years of history, Hanoi is home to enchanting lakes, unique urban areas such as the bustling Old Quarter, and an array of fascinating architectural buildings from the French colonial period. It is also beloved for its incredible culinary heritage. Vietnam's capital is also the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay and beauty spots such as Ninh Binh and Sapa in northern Vietnam. From Hanoi, travellers can easily access other parts of the country, including Hue, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and many more destinations. Thanks to Vietjet's extensive international flight network, travellers have access to a wide range of destinations throughout the ASEAN and Asia-Pacific region.
The new services are crucial in Vietjet’s plan to expand its flight network in response to pent-up travel demand, stimulating cultural exchange, education, economic development, and tourism between Vietnam and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
