MCIS Insurance Berhad ("MCIS Life"), Malaysia's trusted life insurer, has been awarded the prestigious Sustainability & CSR Award in the 'Community and Environment Care' category.
Commenting on the recognition, CEO and Managing Director Prasheem Seebran stated, "This recognition reaffirms our commitment to making a positive impact in the communities we serve. We drive initiatives to bring essential health screening services to the underserved populations, contribute to the rehabilitation and restoration of the forest eco-system to combat climate change, and encourage community service among our employees through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.”

MCIS Life was commended for its significant contributions to sustainability through the MCIS Life Legacy Forest in Sireh Park, Iskandar Puteri, Johor. This initiative resulted in the planting of over 6,280 rainforest endemic trees, projected to mitigate approximately 567 tons of carbon emissions by 2029 as they mature. Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the project aims to raise awareness and educate the public on climate change mitigation and adaptation. The initiative is realized through a strategic partnership with The Nusajaya Natural Heritage Trust (TNNHT), a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving and promoting biodiversity in Sireh Park.
Another notable CSR initiative is the MCIS Life Purple Truck, an initiative which enhances access to health screening services and promotes cancer awareness and prevention. In partnership with the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM), this project, started since 2022, provides basic health screening services, including cancer screenings such as clinical breast examinations, pap smears, and fecal occult blood tests. It also offers educational sessions and free doctor consultations.
This outreach program has since successfully screened over 8,000 individuals for various cancers, providing crucial medical information and access to professionals. Besides screenings, the project also offers HPV vaccines for female teens and young adults. These initiatives significantly benefit the lives of all Malaysians, especially the underserved communities.
In addition to being solar powered, the truck is designed with a wheelchair lift and handicap railing to ensure inclusivity and ease of access for all individuals. This thoughtful design not only promotes environmental responsibility but also enhances its positive impact on the community by accommodating diverse needs.
Additionally, at MCIS Life, the company actively encourages all employees to volunteer, recognizing that such engagement not only boosts morale and job satisfaction but also instils a profound sense of purpose beyond daily responsibilities. This commitment helps to cultivate a vibrant company culture.
