Continuously rolling out efforts to transform Malaysia's secure and safe digital identity solutions
MyDigital ID, a trusted identity management and authentication platform by MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd is announcing the online registration mode of MyDigital ID, the national digital identification system via its mobile app for all Malaysians. With a focus on driving and realising the country’s digital transformation, MyDigital ID aims to provide trusted, secure and convenient digital identity solutions for a seamless access to government services.
First announced in November 2023, MyDigital ID is recognised nationally as a trusted form of digital identification management, providing secure authentication for online transactions and addressing vulnerabilities present in the existing online identity verification system. MyDigital ID plays a crucial role in granting safe and secure access to essential services such as government facilities, financial services, education, and healthcare, amongst others.
With the official rollout of its online registration system, Malaysians will simply need to download the MyDigital ID app via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store on their respective smartphones and begin their registration process without the need of visiting any kiosks. After signing up for MyDigital ID, Malaysians no longer need to log in into different platforms using different passwords - only one verification system is needed for apps and portals to log in.
Currently, the MyDigital ID system has now been integrated with several government applications such as the Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) Mobile, MySejahtera, MyJPJ and MyGov portal. The platform will also see integration with more government services in the near future. Currently, through its integration with MyJPJ, users who are registered with MyDigital ID will no longer need to perform another biometric verification at any JPJ counters.
Chief Executive Officer, MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd, Encik Mohd Mirza Mohamed Noor said “MyDigital ID is proud to extend its platform to every Malaysian today for them to register online. Our online registration marks another profound milestone for us and our country towards achieving the journey of secure and seamless digital identity solutions.”
He added “What sets MyDigital ID apart from the existing sign up systems is that having MyDigital ID certificate will protect users from online fraud and identity theft as the digital certificate is pegged onto the user’s personal device upon successful registration reference towards government trusted database.”
The MyDigital ID system would be used to verify a user’s identity for login to government platforms and transactions, and data would not be collected. The system only compares the information contained within a MyKad and a user’s fingerprint or facial features against existing data held by government agencies such as the National Registration Department (NRD) during the registration process.
Since announced by Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, MyDigital ID registration kiosks have been placed at 200 NRD branches, 8 branches of the National Information Dissemination Centre, and 357 Tealive outlets throughout the country. To date, over 600,000 users have now registered with MyDigital ID.
The implementation of MyDigital ID marks a pivotal step towards a more user-friendly and secure digital environment, aligned with the government’s vision of harnessing technology to empower its citizens. MyDigital ID Sdn Bhd would also like to emphasise and assure Malaysians that MyDigital ID does not store any biometric data of its users. It also does not collect, monitor or store personal data, all while ensuring users do not have more than one digital identity as safety measures.
The registration for MyDigital ID is now open to all Malaysian citizens.
