The children dazzled the audience with their unique and colorful traditional outfits, each enhanced with their own Merdeka-themed decorations. RWG’s G3 volunteers played a key role in helping the children by adding special patches and embellishments to their attire. This collaborative effort made the fashion show a memorable Merdeka celebration for the children, thanks to the support and guidance of the G3 volunteers. Genting Green Generation (G3) is RWG’s employee volunteer program dedicated to community engagement and promoting sustainability.
Present at the event were Datuk Chan Kam Fatt, Chairman of BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence Home; Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha Parasuraman, Vice President of Corporate Relations and Communications; and Mr. Peter Dewey Foster, Executive Vice President of Leisure, Hospitality and Lifestyle, who served as judges for the special Merdeka fashion show.
In her remarks, Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha expressed her delight, saying, “Today, as we celebrate Merdeka, we come together as one Malaysian family, embracing and recognising every segment of our community. This event is a memorable way of acknowledging and appreciating the children of our world, and it serves as a meaningful opportunity to learn and celebrate the rich diversity of our Malaysian culture.”
Dato’ Sri Kay Atisha further shared her joy about the event, noting, “We are truly delighted to have the children from BRDB Rotary Children’s Residence Home be a part of our Merdeka celebration. It is wonderful to see our G3 volunteers engage with the children, adding personal artistic touches to truly reflect the spirit of Merdeka.”
The fashion show featured six creative groups – Bunga Raya, Harimau Malaya, Jalur Gemilang, Rafflesia, Gunung Kinabalu, and Keris – each showcasing their unique interpretation of Merdeka. The judging criteria focused on patriotic design, innovative use of materials and colours and the embodiment of the Merdeka spirit. The top three group winners were awarded food hampers, while all participating groups received special gifts as a recognition of their efforts and creativity.

Following the fashion show, the children enjoyed a day of excitement at Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, where they experienced thrilling rides and attractions. All the children were presented with a commemorative RWG goodie bag, including a stationery set and a notebook, as a token of appreciation.
Datuk Chan Kam Fatt, Chairman of BRCR Home, expressed his gratitude: “We are deeply appreciative of Resorts World Genting in organizing this wonderful event. The children were overjoyed to be part of the fashion show and had a fantastic time at Skytropolis. It was a day filled with joy and unforgettable experience.”
Resorts World Genting remains committed to fostering inclusivity and making a positive impact on the community. The G3 Program – “Ini Jiwa Kita” Merdeka Fashion Show stands as a testament to the resort’s dedication to creating joyful and impactful experiences for all.
