Vietjet honoured among Vietnam’s top 50 sustainable companies for green transition initiatives

Vietjet has been proudly recognised in the Top 50 Sustainable Companies Award 2024 by Nhip Cau Dau Tu, Vietnam’s leading business magazine, for its steadfast commitment to sustainability both in the sky and on the ground, alongside other leading Vietnamese enterprises such as FPT, Masan Group, and Vinamilk.

This year, Vietjet has received accolades in two significant categories, namely “Outstanding Sustainable Transport” and “Human Resource Strategy for Sustainable Development.” These honours highlight Vietjet’s exceptional achievements in sustainable development, green transition, and low-carbon strategies, as well as its effective human resources management.

Vietjet has actively pursued environmental protection and sustainable development since its establishment, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. As a frontrunner in green transition initiatives, the airline operates a modern, eco-friendly fleet that reduces fuel consumption by up to 20%, thus lowering emissions. It has also pioneered the use of electronic tickets to reduce paper consumption and recyclable materials for its in-flight services. Moreover, Vietjet has invested in researching, developing, and using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to maintain its status as a green, technology-driven airline.

In addition, Vietjet has been honoured for its robust financial indicators, labour policies, work environment, leadership, and corporate management. With a diverse workforce of over 6,000 employees from more than 50 countries and territories, the airline has been one of the best workplaces in Vietnam and the region thanks to its competitive benefits and professional work environment that offers substantial career growth opportunities.

The Top 50 Sustainable Companies Award aims to promote the principles of sustainable development within the business community and society in Vietnam. It acknowledges and celebrates companies that contribute to environmental sustainability and social justice while fostering awareness and inspiring commitment to sustainable practices and environmental protection.

The latest recognition adds to Vietjet’s impressive list of accolades. The airline has been recognised by Airfinance Journal as one of the world’s 50 best airlines for healthy financing and operations, listed among Southeast Asia’s top 500 companies by Fortune, and named one of Vietnam’s 50 best-listed companies by Forbes. Furthermore, Vietjet has been acknowledged as one of the 50 most valuable brands in Vietnam, one of the top 50 best-performing companies in the country, and one of the top 10 in corporate governance on the Vietnam stock exchange.

Vietjet currently operates a fleet of over 105 aircraft and continues to see a steady increase in passenger numbers. The airline is consistently expanding its international flight network, with the Kuala Lumpur–Ho Chi Minh City route being a key service. This daily route offers Malaysian travellers convenient transit options, enabling them to explore diverse destinations in Vietnam and other popular tourist attractions across the region.
