BookXcess Introduces ‘Reality Date with a Book,’ A Global First for Non-Fiction Enthusiasts

BookXcess Sdn Bhd (BookXcess) is thrilled to unveil ‘Reality Date with a Book,’ an innovative and one of the first in the world initiative designed to ignite curiosity and surprise among readers. This allows book lovers to discover their next read with an element of mystery, as each selected non-fiction title is wrapped in black, concealing its identity until the moment of unwrapping.



Focusing on genres like motivation, self-help, and biography, these carefully curated selections are designed to appeal to a broad audience, promising a captivating literary journey. Since the initiative’s launch by BookXcess in July 2024, over 3,500 copies have been sold, a testament to the growing popularity of this concept.

It also follows the successful ‘Blind Date with a Book’ campaign by BookXcess, adapted from its original concept in United Kingdom, featuring fiction titles and has since sold more than 16,000 copies in 6 months, making it a bestseller offering.

“At BookXcess, our mission is to make books affordable and accessible, and our ‘Reality Date with a Book’ initiative is a perfect reflection of that commitment,” said Andrew Yap, Co-founder of BookXcess.



“The enthusiastic response to both our initiatives reassures us that the reading culture in Malaysia is on the rise. We’re excited to continue finding innovative ways to cultivate a love of reading Malaysia,” he added.

The "Blind Date with a Book" and “Reality Date with a Book” concepts offer a unique and thoughtful gift idea that can resonate deeply with adults everywhere. Following the success of these initiatives, BookXcess is set to launch a third surprise in Q4 of this year, promising readers yet another intriguing twist.
