First New Service Between Kuala Lumpur and Vietnam Since 2016
In a landmark move, Vietjet is once again making waves in Malaysia’s aviation landscape with the introduction of its new daily service between Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, starting 28 November 2024. This eagerly awaited connection between the two countries marks a pivotal moment for leisure and business travellers, further enhancing the growing cultural, economic, and tourism ties across the wider region.
The new route will operate daily, with flight VJ906 from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) departing at 12:40 PM (local time). The return flight, VJ905, will leave Hanoi for Kuala Lumpur at 7:20 AM (local time). The flights will be serviced by Airbus A320 aircraft, providing passengers with a comfortable and efficient flying experience.
Tickets are now available for purchase through www.vietjetair.com, the Vietjet Air mobile app, and official agents worldwide, with a range of exciting promotions. On 10 October 2024, passengers can enjoy discounts of up to 100% on Eco tickets (*) with the promo code VJ1010, valid for travel between 1 January and 22 May 2025 (**). Additionally, millions of tickets starting from just RM166 (all-in, one-way price) are available every Friday across Vietjet’s flight network, applicable to the new Kuala Lumpur-Hanoi route and other international routes.
For those seeking a premium experience, Deluxe fares are discounted by up to 50% (*) for travel until 20 November 2024, offering benefits such as up to 40kg of free checked baggage, free seat selection, and free flight schedule changes (**).
Hanoi will become the second destination in Vietnam operated by Vietjet from Kuala Lumpur, after the successful route connecting Malaysia’ capital to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s largest metropolis. With daily flights since its launch in 2016, this route has contributed to the growing number of Malaysian travellers in Vietnam. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, Malaysia is among the top six sources of international visitors in Vietnam for the first nine months of 2024.
With a rich history spanning over 1,000 years, Hanoi is a major hub for politics, economics, and culture in Southeast Asia. The city is renowned for various attractions, including the Old Quarter, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature, Hoan Kiem Lake, and West Lake. In addition to the Kuala Lumpur-Hanoi route, Vietjet is expanding its flight network elsewhere across Asia. From 12 December 2024, the airline will resume the Ho Chi Minh City-Tainan route, further strengthening its leadership in Vietnam-Taiwan connectivity. Vietjet will also increase frequencies on key routes linking Hanoi to Nagoya, Siem Reap, and Busan, as well as Ho Chi Minh City to Vientiane and Bali, starting 27 October 2024.
