As part of its ongoing advocacy efforts to make stalking a crime in Malaysia, Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO) kicked off the #JenayahkanMenghendap awareness campaign in collaboration with 5 key influential figures namely Communications Consultant, Broadcast Journalist & Gender Equality Activist, Tehmina Kaoosji; TV Host and Emcee, Ben Ibrahim; TV Personality, Daphne Iking; Singer and Producer, Vince Chong; as well as Broadcast Host, Freda Liu. This social media campaign follows the tabling in Parliament on the proposed amendments to the Penal Code (Amendment) Bill 2022 – which would make stalking a crime; and the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2022 - which creates a protection order for stalking survivors on 4 August 2022.
